Brahms in England
Claus Efland recently opened the new season of the Bardi Symphony Orchestra in England with Brahms' 1st Symphony. The performance received standing ovation and rave reviews:
"Efland has the relatively rare ability to transmit his feeling for the architecture of the piece from the opening bars through to the last with a sense of purpose and direction that is truly satisfying. Another is his skillful use of subtle rubato which adds countless felicitations to his interpretations without interrupting the sense of direction and forward momentum. Efland is also a dab hand at building an effective climax. All these qualities are particularly important when conducting a Brahms symphony". (Neil Crutchley, Leicester Mercury)
